Faetooth return with Labyrinthine, a dense and emotionally rich follow-up to their 2022 debut. The Los Angeles trio — guitarist/vocalist Ari May, bassist/vocalist Jenna Garcia, and drummer Rah Kanan — continue to hone their self-described “fairy doom” sound, weaving shoegaze textures, grunge grit, and doom heft into something deeply introspective.
True to its title, Labyrinthine moves like a maze, exploring unresolved feelings, grief, memory, and the quiet resilience of healing. It’s an album rooted in self-discovery through disorientation — less about escape, more about facing what lies within. The band balance weight and softness, fantasy and immediacy, offering a space for contemplation as much as catharsis.
“White Noise,” drawn from a diary entry, reflects this tension. “Performing the song always takes me back to a specific place, even if just for a moment,” says May. The song channels emotional upheaval and the pull of familiar pain, themes that echo throughout the record’s winding, deliberate path.
