Mutagenic Host is a five-piece death metal band hailing from London, part of the rising New Wave of British Death Metal. Following a couple of years of relentless live performances alongside acts such as Incantation, Fit For an Autopsy, Fulci, Fuming Mouth, Undeath, Celestial Sanctuary, Kruelty, Portrayal of Guilt, and Doldrey, Mutagenic Host released their debut full-length, 'The Diseased Machine', a record that captured both critical and underground acclaim. The album received an 8/10 from Dom Lawson (Metal Hammer), became one of Bandcamp’s top-selling death metal records in Jan 2024, and surpassed 100,000 streams within its first month (253,000 overall), earning the band over 15,000 monthly listeners (at time of release).
Now, as the next phase begins, Mutagenic Host are set to release two standalone singles: 'Chimeric Vestige' and 'Grotesque Union' - acting as an epilogue to The Diseased Machine. These tracks serve as the final act in the album’s narrative: after humanity’s downfall and enslavement by AI, the machines abandon a dying Earth to conquer new worlds, leaving behind a single hybrid survivor - the Chimeric Vestige, an immortal pariah condemned to witness the void left by mankind, and the butt of the joke at the robotic hands of humanities transgressors. Told from this creature’s perspective, the songs mark the last lament of human consciousness.
The band will headline a UK tour in January, and will appear at European summer festivals, including Dortmund Deathfest 2026. Alongside these releases and tours, Mutagenic Host are deep in the writing process for their second full-length album, expanding their universe of sonic and conceptual extremity even further. With each release, Mutagenic Host sharpen their message and identity, one that refuses nostalgia and embraces evolution, capturing the callousness of our time through sound that feels terrifyingly present.
